Old Republic Radio #40: The HK Effect.
Hello again Old Republic. Forst off apologies for running a little alte this week I had some real life pop up and coul not get the show out when I wanted to, but it is here now. So this week we discuss the HK effect in the Dev Dispatch and try to decide if HK-51 is good fan serivce and if it is the right time to be adding companions to the game. We also discuss more SWTOR devs departing Bioware and discuss what Bioware could do to win bakc the community’s confidence. In where we have been we discuss what have ben some of the suprises the game has brought us since launch and ask the question ‘Was the collector’s edition worht it?” Finally your emails in the community cantina discussing your thoughts on the refferral speeder and questions about what gear should we have for operations and hard modw flashpoints. Hey everyone, thanks for addressing my question about gear on your previous podcast. I sincerely appreciate the info. Since then I have spent time learning which stats are better for PVP and which are better for PVE. I also took a suggestion you gave and augmented my Battlemaster set with shield/power and absorb/power augments. And it has really made a difference.
I listened to your discussion about MK-51 on #40 and have to say I agree that it isn’t anything more than a distraction. What would make the game better in my case would be dual spec. Let me have 1 set of gear I can use for both PVP, PVE. At the moment i’m faced with taking a lot of time away from PVP to get the Black Hole set, or taking a lot of time away from PVE to grind the War Hero set. Gear that would allow me to swap mods in and out without having to pay a fortune would even be fine. But right now i’m forced to concentrate on one aspect of the game when I enjoy all aspects.
Oh, and one other suggestion for content. At the end of Ord Mantell (spoiler alert) in the Trooper story give me the option of joining Heron Tavuus and the defectors. That would be a cool storyline.

50 Vangaurd (Tank)
After hearing your comment about “Mara’s being broken to the point that it breaks the game” I thought “hmmm this is the first time I have heard this for it being such a widely accepted fact on that cast”. Well I went the to forums in search of the many “MARA IS BROKEN AND OP!” threads….to find basically none. There were outcries about other classes, there was a 1v1 tournament where a mara took second place, but there was not a widely known outcry.
Sorry that mara’s can beat your class, but don’t report on it as news or fact. It was almost as bad as saying that the GTN being more conveinient is more important than content….as in the 1.4 content they released was coming but you chose to hone in on one aspect of it and act like a companion is all they are giving us. They gave us a TRAILER for comicon about a well loved character coming back (in a way) to appeal to comicon goes that maybe don’t play the game. They gave the 1.4 content trailer for the gamers at e3.
Really depressing cast and missed the mark entirely about what HK-51 trailer was about
Thanks for the feedback and sorry if the show was a bit of a downer. HK-51 is a good thing and I beleive we did give it kudos for the fan serivce but in the end how long will this hold us and the rest of the population in game is what I beleive we were talking about. We need substantial content additions and soon. Mara’s not broken just over powered in PvP from what we can see not a fact an obeservation. NExt show is much happier I promise you.
